Long Commute Does Not Preclude Exercise
by Bob Curley on October 26, 2010
If your daily commute is too long to walk or bike there are still some simple exercises you can do in the car or on the train, the Washington Post reported Oct. 24.
Squeezeitin.com, a website dedicated to fitting exercise into your daily routine (their motto is “Let life be your workout”), recommends:
■Contract your abs or glutes when you’re sitting, or twist to one side and tighten your oblique muscles
■If you’re standing by a pole on the train, lift up on your toes to perform calf raises
■Don’t just stand on the train platform — see how many times you can walk from end to end before your train comes
