Brokenness is the prerequisite for greatness.
The Respect Dare

How often do you "catch yourself" during the day, just about to say something you shouldn't? More than once? Twice? GOOD FOR YOU! Keep a tight rein on your tongue. Dare you to give advice or an opinion today only when asked for it. Unless the person is ready to grow, (or in the rare case of being led to initiate growth) those words probably aren't necessary or edifying.

Devine word for the day

Today, I believe God wants you to know that you've been in this place long enough. It's time for you to come out. In fact, He wants to bring you out. So why won't He just bring you out already? Glad you asked.

He's waiting on you. What do I mean? Glad you asked that, too.

He's waiting on you to dry your eyes, stop showing up to those pity parties, pull yourself together, and make up your mind that enough is enough.

He's waiting on you to stop fighting against the refining process He's taking you through, and seek Him for what He's trying to teach you.

He's waiting on you to submit your will to His, completely surrendering your all to Him, so that His glory may be revealed in and through you.

He's waiting on you to stop seeking advice from everybody besides Him. God wants you to learn to fall on your face before Him, and seek Him for direction. He is the only one who can truly direct your path.

He's waiting on you to stop complaining and cursing, and start praying and praising.

He is waiting on you to realize that there is great purpose for your life, and everything you are going through was divinely orchestrated by God to prepare you for your place of purpose. He's waiting on you to embrace the truth that all things work together for good to them that love Him and are called according to His purpose.

He's waiting on you...

Til we meet again...live, laugh, love!

5 crucial numbers by Dr. Oz

To begin taking charge of your own health, there are 5 crucial numbers Dr. Oz wants you to know. Make knowing them your mantra, and you’ll be on the road to a healthier, longer life.

1. Blood Pressure

Over 50 million American adults have high blood pressure, also called hypertension; within this range,1 out of every 3 isn’t even aware they have this serious medical condition. High blood pressure can cause a host medical problems including cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and stroke, which can strike suddenly.

Your blood pressure can be tested in several places like your doctor’s office or at a pharmacy. Learn how to test your own blood pressure and invest in a device you can use at home.

Get in the habit of testing your blood pressure once a month. Make sure each time to test it at the same point in the day, when you’re most relaxed. For accuracy, take 3 readings and figure out the average number between them.

Pay attention to the top number – the systolic pressure, which indicates the pressure when the heart beats while pumping blood – the best lifelong measurement for hypertension. A systolic reading above 140 is considered too high and warrants seeing your doctor.

2. Waist Size

If you’re sporting a large waistline, your risk of dying prematurely is nearly double. The reason is because belly fat, often fondly referred to as a spare tire or a beer gut – sends out a toxic stream of chemicals impacting the whole body.

Take your waist size once each month with a measuring tape.

Measure at your natural waistline, which is above your hipbone and below the ribcage – not where your belt lies or around your hips. Be mindful of your posture and suck in your stomach since the fat you’re measuring is deep inside the belly.

A waist size over 35 inches in women and over 40 inches in men greatly increases the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and more.

The ideal waist size for women is 32 ½ inches and 35 inches for men. Click here to learn your body mass index, or BMI, to see how your waist size can impact your overall health.
3. Weight

Stepping on a scale and finding out your body weight is one of the easiest numbers to calculate and an excellent indicator of your overall health. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 1 out of 3 Americans are considered obese, which can cause a slew of health problems such as cardiovascular disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gout, hypertension, high blood pressure and cancer.

The average American woman stands approximately 5’4” tall. At this height, you should weight less than 175 pounds, the cut off point for obesity.

The average American man is about 5’9” tall and should weigh less than 196, his cut off for obesity.

Taller folks can add 5 pounds per inch; if you’re shorter, subtract 5 pounds per inch.

Write your weight down monthly. Studies show that by tracking this number, you’ll do a better job keeping it down.

4. Cholesterol

High cholesterol is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

To test your cholesterol levels, you need to see a doctor or someone in the health care field who can administer a simple blood test.

Don’t worry about memorizing your total cholesterol number, which can be misleading. Instead, memorize the 2 forms it’s carried in: HDL and LDL. Your HDL, the healthy cholesterol, needs to be 50 or better; your LDL, the unhealthy cholesterol, should be under 100. If your numbers do not fall in this range, discuss strategies for lowering your LDL and increasing your HDL with a health care professional. Click here for more on cholesterol.

5. Fasting Blood Sugar

Testing your fasting blood sugar (FBS) measures your risk for diabetes, a chronic disease that can lead to blindness, cardiac disease, kidney failure, nerve problems and an impaired immune system. Diabetes is particularly high in the African American community.

Your fasting blood sugar number must be measured after an 8-hour fast. Fasting is key since ingesting food—say, a banana an hour beforehand—would raise blood sugar levels and could create a false pre-diabetic or diabetic reading. Your FBS can be determined with a simple blood test or a finger stick test.

A fasting blood sugar number above 100 is considered pre-diabetic; treatment measures should be discussed with a physician.

By knowing and staying on top of Dr. Oz’s 5 numbers, you’ll minus the threat of major chronic diseases and multiply your odds for health and longevity.

Being Thankful is Healthy

by Bob Curley on November 23, 2010

Gratitude provides a cornucopia of physical, mental, and emotional benefits, but Thanksgiving should be more than a once-a-year event in your life if you want to reap the rewards, the Wall Street Journal reported Nov. 23.

Frequently feeling grateful for the good things in your life has been shown to give you more energy, optimism, social connections, and happiness. Grateful adults also are less depressed, envious, and greedy, less likely to be alcoholics, earn more money, sleep better, exercise more, and are more resistant to viral infections.

Children also get many rewards for a grateful outlook, including better grades in school and fewer headaches and stomach aches.

It’s not easy to be grateful: researcher Robert Emmons of the University of California at Davis said that gratitude is a demanding, complex emotion that requires “self-reflection, the ability to admit that one is dependent upon the help of others, and the humility to realize one’s own limitations.”

Some people are naturally prone to look on the bright side of life, but gratitude also can be learned and nurtured by:

■literally counting your blessings by keeping a gratitude journal

■reflecting daily on the people who touched your life in a positive way and how you reciprocated

■making a conscious effort to talking about what you are grateful for and who deserves credit rather than bonding with friends over gripes and annoyances

■avoiding negative, derogatory words

■imagine what your life would be like without blessings like a good partner, children, or a job — an exercise in “mental subtraction” than can boost your feelings of gratitude for what you have
Feeling grateful gives you more energy, optimism, social connections, and happiness. Grateful adults are less depressed, envious, and greedy; they tend to earn more money, sleep better, and exercise more.

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.. All we can do sometimes is to just be still. When we give it to God, we must not take it back and try to work it out ourselves, thinking that God isn’t doing the work fast enough. We have become a people of instant gratification, which has become an affliction to us.So…I must learn to be still. And when I do, I see what God can do, and His workings make things final. Amen

When we allow God to guide us in our decisions, He whispers information that we can never learn any place else. not in a course, tape or even your experience. The Bible says that He will reveal secrets to those who fear Him. To fear God means “to reverence” Him. When we do so, He speaks to us in a still, small voice even as we are sleeping. But we must practice the art of hearing Him.

Do You Recognize What You Have?

.by Joel Osteen Ministries on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 7:36am.All throughout scripture, we see that God uses ordinary things. One time, Sampson had thousands of Philistines coming against him. Sampson didn't have any armor. He didn't have a sword. No troops were backing him up. It looked like he was as good as dead. What did Sampson do? Complain? "God, it's not fair. They've got swords and shields, and I don't have anything." No, Sampson understood this principle. He immediately began to look around. He knew that what he needed would be close to him. What did he see? A machine gun? A case full of hand grenades? No, he saw the jawbone of a donkey, something ordinary. It didn't look like much, but Sampson believed that what God gave him would be exactly what he needed. The scripture says that Sampson took the jawbone of the donkey and defeated 1,000 Philistines that were better equipped and had more expertise.

I've learned that success in life is not as much about what you have as it is about God's anointing on what you have. You can have average talent, but with the anointing of the Most High God you will go further than someone who has exceptional talent. You may have an extraordinary problem, but because of the blessing and favor of God on your life He can take an ordinary solution and cause you to be victorious.

Here is the question: do you recognize what you have? Are you looking around to see what is at your disposal, what is close to you? The solution, the breakthrough, the new business, the idea; it is within your reach. What you have may not look like much, but with God's anointing, it is everything you need.

Today, be encouraged because what you have is enough to accomplish what you need to accomplish. And if you need something different, the God of the universe knows how to get it to you. He has placed every resource you need within your reach. Keep hoping, keep praying, and keep rejoicing because the victory is already yours.

In what ways do the difficult people in your life irritate you?

November 23, 2010

The Sandpaper People are Coming!

Mary Southerland

Today's Truth

Luke 6:27-28 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."

Friend to Friend

I sometimes think that the holiday season should somehow come with a warning label that reads, "The Sandpaper People are coming!" The holidays usher in many things - one of which is the opportunity to deal with the difficult people in our life. That relative that irritated you last Thanksgiving may very well do the same thing this year. Get ready to deal with your sandpaper people - the people who rub you the wrong way.

God created us with the capacity for strong emotions and like any gift from God our emotions can be used for good or misused for bad. Sandpaper people not only have an uncanny knack for knowing where emotional buttons are located, they honestly think it is their purpose in life to push every single one of them. Our first reaction to the incessant and calculated button pushing of a sandpaper person is usually angry retaliation while God calls us to a peaceful resolution. When it comes to difficult relationships, God does not want or expect us to declare war. We are to control our emotions instead of allowing them to control us. The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 12:18, "As much as is possible, live peaceably with all men." In other words, we need to set our mind on peace - not winning.

God's wants us to wage peace in every relationship - including the roughest, most abrasive, anger producing sandpaper people who come our way. A formidable task, since every sandpaper person I have ever known comes complete with a set agenda that targets emotional eruptions and creates constant relationships upheavals. They love a good fight, live to evoke angry reactions and are fierce warriors determined to win every battle initiated by their downright irritating personalities. However, combat is impossible when the enemy has laid down his weapons and chosen peace.

As I headed to the grocery store for my dreaded weekly shopping trip, I wrestled with my attitude. You have to understand that I absolutely hate grocery shopping but on this particular morning, I vowed to choose joy and turned my focus to the balmy Florida day before me. I had it all under control - until I pulled into the grocery store parking lot.

It seemed like every South Florida resident was in that parking lot frantically searching for a parking space - and they were not happy. After circling several times, I spotted an empty spot right by the entrance. God does answer prayer. I made a beeline for "my" parking space. Just as I turned to pull in, an older lady boldly stepped into that prized space and with great ceremony, held up her left hand, signaling me to stop right where I was. With her right hand, this self-imposed traffic director began motioning to a man I assumed was her husband as he circled the parking lot in his very large car. I suddenly realized that she was saving "my" spot for him. Of all the nerve! What incredible gall!

Parking spaces are a serious matter to me. Evidently, I was not the only one who felt that way. In the midst of my simmering, soon-to-explode anger, this still small voice reminded me that I had a choice to make. I really hated surrendering my anger to God, but the thought of apologizing to that woman for running over her with my car was more than my mind could conceive and my stomach could handle. I quickly decided that if she was willing to risk her life for a grocery store parking space, she deserved to have it.

Unfortunately, the driver behind me did not agree and whipped her car into the sought after space just in front of the man in his large car, barely missing the traffic controlling woman as she frantically jumped up on the sidewalk, out of the car's path. I decided to watch the scene unfold - or explode. Crude gestures and loud, repulsive words filled the air. Some I understood. Some I had never heard and did not care to define. Threats were exchanged along with promises of retribution.

The whole experience was an ugly reminder that we live in a world filled with angry people who are constantly rubbing each other the wrong way. Sandpaper people. And while it is true that everyone gets angry from time to time, it is just as true that everyone can learn to effectively control and manage his or her anger. When dealing with a sandpaper person, we must not allow ourselves to become the enemy. As you get ready for Thanksgiving Day, remember to prepare your heart as well to love the hard-to-love people that come your way.

Let's Pray

Father, I am so thankful that You love me - rough edges and all. Please help me to love others in the same way.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

The power in your words

ViewTrack.ShareWords – the Key to a Better Life

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit" (Proverbs 18:21)

Is there really power in your words?

According to the Scriptures, the tongue has a power. Notice it says here, "the power of the tongue". Its obvious that the power referred to here is not the physical power of the tongue as a muscle, but the power of the words it produces. I've never heard of the word "tongue" used in relation to God Himself. Its a word used of human speech. So we can see that the Word of God is saying that our speech is tremendously important, powerful and significant. So much so that our words are a matter of life and death. Perhaps this is why Jesus declared, "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment." (Matthew 12:36). "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:37). These declarations of Jesus Christ should cause us to sit up and take notice, and consider very carefully what kind of words are coming out of our mouths and why.

What is the nature of the power in our words?

Its obvious that words have great power even at what we might call the natural level. This is especially true of those who have been granted more natural authority in the various domains of life. If your boss instructs you with words to do a certain task, you had better do it, or you will not last long in your job. If the umpire makes a call in a game of sport, it is binding. When a judge speaks in court, it can have consequences that value in the millions of dollars. You see the tremendous power that even the natural words. And King Solomon remarked, "Where the word of a king is, there is power, and who can say to him, 'What are you doing?'" (Ecclesiastes 8:4).

The above are examples in the natural realm. Yet as human beings, we are spirits, and our words and actions resonate in the spiritual realm also. Many of the Bible principles apply equally well in the realm of spirit as they do in the natural and soulish realms – which are the ones with which most people are familiar.

Some conservative Bible teachers, who are afraid of excesses which deny the Sovereignty of God, want to downplay the actual power that our words have in the spiritual realm. In doing so, they unwittingly emasculate Christianity of much of its power. Things are usually not so clear cut as a traditional theological system would make them out to be. And I want to emphasize one point. If our theologies have not equipped us to do the works of God as Jesus did, they are to the same extent defective. Let us never forget that we are supposed to model our lives on Jesus. We are supposed to be "Christlike". Not only in character and attitude, but also in divine power, since, as Jesus said, "You shall receive power after the Holy Spirit comes upon you" and "He who believes in me, the works that I do shall he do also" (John 14:12). We would do well to throw off the shackles of theological systems which in effect deny these promises, since they are in fact coming against the plain declarations of the One we call "Teacher" and "Lord". If a theological system cannot produce people who actually believe in such a way as to get Jesus-kind of results, then it is the theological system which is at fault, as well as the fault of those who persist in teaching these theologies.

Jesus said, "For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, HE WILL HAVE WHATEVER HE SAYS." (Mark 11:23).

What are the conservative theologians of our day going to do with this Scripture? Do they believe it? What qualifications would they wish to add to the words of Jesus here? What excuses would they propose for their own powerlessness. According to Jesus, it is a matter of BELIEVING, SAYING and NOT DOUBTING. You may say in your heart, "I don't believe that." That's right, and that explains why it doesn't work for you either.

Now faith is a growing thing, and we can't just decide to believe whatever we want to. Believing is not simply a question of a decision of the will, and and action of the mind. Paul said, "With the heart man believes." (Romans 10:10). Now again, conservative theologians have attempted to muddy the waters on this point, by saying things like, "If you do a careful study of the Bible, you will see that there is really no difference between mind and heart. The Bible views man as a unity. Thus 'mind' and 'heart' are synonomous." But this is totally false. There are plenty of people who "believe" with their mind while their hearts are full of doubts, and they often don't get the things they are hoping and praying for. This universal fact is too plain to be contested. What then of the words of Jesus concerning the power of faith and words spoken in faith? Are they an exaggeration, a cruel deception? Actually, they can only make sense if the two different words for "heart" and "mind" actually mean different things. And they surely do. Our minds are very important to God, and there are many instructions for us concerning the mind. The mind is a doorway and a kind of guardian of the heart. It is operating at a more external level than the inner heart of man. For example, Jesus says that "evil thoughts" come out of the heart. The heart is the fountainhead of of the attitudes and deep beliefs that we really hold. Our heart condition shapes our destiny. We are responsible to guard our hearts with all diligence. Having a disciplined mind is an important part of that.

What is the Heart?

"and does not doubt in his heart..." (Mark 11:23)

The heart is the innermost part of a man's being. It is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks – generally. Our own hearts are generally neither directly knowable nor changeable by ourselves. In and of themselves they are desperately wicked and deceitful above all things. We don't know our own hearts fully. They hide their own evil from us to some extent, so that we are not overwhelmed with the pain of our own sin. Yet the power of God's word is so great that it can change the heart. Often, God allows painful situations in our lives that our hearts be challenged and changed. But meditation on the word of God can change the heart of man. And God is calling us to this discipline, which will bring good fruit in our lives. Scripture meditation is a means by which the Holy Spirit works. And this meditation involves speaking out with our mouths what the word of God says, as well as deeply thinking on it until it combines with our deepest emotions.

Healing and Changing the Heart

Much could be said on this. Forgiveness of others is a vital precondition to real spiritual health, and even to God's forgiveness for ourselves. That's one reason why Jesus said in Mark 11:25 to forgive if we have anything against anyone. This was said in the context of words and prayers of faith.

Back to the Power of Our Words

If we allow the blood of Christ to cleanse our hearts, if we repent of doubt and commit our hearts and minds to the faith filled declarations of our Lord Jesus Christ, then something will happen. We will start to believe what Jesus and Solomon both said, that our words have power. Co-operating with the Spirit of God, we will start to harness our tongues to produce much good fruit through our lives. Now its true that words alone are sometimes not enough. But without the right words, as well as a heart of faithfulness, very little will be accomplished.

The truth is, the more you say something, the more you will believe it. And the more you believe it, the more you will say it. Spend more time examining the kinds of things that come out of your mouth, especially in moments of crisis or irritation, and you will have a much better idea of the kinds of issues that the Lord wants to work on in your life.

This Power can Work Miracles

Jesus demonstrated this all the time. Mark 11:23 was really a major teaching to his disciples. Its the underlying principle behind effective healing and deliverance ministry. We prepare our hearts before God partly in order to be able to operate according to these principles. You tell the demon to go and it does. You tell the bones to move into place and they do. You tell the blind eyes to open and they do. These things are done "in the name of Jesus" and they actually work – when we believe. We have to abide in a spirit of faith if we want the gifts of power to operate in our lives on a regular basis. Our faith grows as we abide in faithfulness to God and live as people of integrity. If we do not believe in our own words, our own promises to others, we are unlikely to see many results in the eternal realm of spirit and the supernatural either.

This Power Can Lift us out of Despair

If a person grumbles and compains about their lot in life, or the bad things that have happened to them, they attract negativity and further problems. All of us suffer, many times unjustly. But its at these times that a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God has maximum power. We mustn't give into the the temptation to speak out the words of the evil one who will be encouraging us to complain and pity ourselves. Complaining angers God. Just look at what it did for the people of Israel in the wilderness on the way to the Promised Land. And many of us are in an analogous position. We have not fully entered into the possesssion of what God wants us to have yet, though we have left the world behind. We mustn't complain when things get tough and the answers don't come quickly enough to save us from pain and frustration. Instead we need to maintain an attitude of thankfulness, patience and faith, which God will surely bless.
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit" (Proverbs 18:21)
Your words have POWER!  Weather positive or negative.  So watch what you speak.  You can build up, or tear down with your words.  You can encourage, or discourage with your words.  You can bless, or curse with your words.
YOUR WORDS HAVE POWER!
Guard my tongue Lord.
Psalm 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Devine Health

My passion is for "Devine Health."  Spiritually, emotonally, and physically.  It is also my passion to encourage you to desire devine health.  I'm hoping this blog will encourage you to rise to the next level, and be motivated to become healthy in every way.  We need to be the best we can be for our King.
I went through a few years of severe depression.  Many things attributed to the depression....  One loss after another.  I developed some negative ways of coping.  Which I'm glad to say I have been delivered from.
It is my mission to become (it's an every day battle) HEALTHY in everyway.  Spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
Everything you do, do it as unto the Lord.  He will reward you.
The  key is to stay focused, and remember to do everything as unto the Lord.  Expose yourself to things that inspire you.  .
spend time each day in prayer(praying in the spirit) and the word of God. Reading the word of God inspires me to be a better person.  As we obey his word the blessings follow.  Forgive those who have hurt you.  Unforgiveness and bitterness will destroy your health.
Listen to what God has to say to you, then OBEY.
Reading about exercise, and healthy diets help keep me inspired.  Get at least 15 minutes of exercise everyday.  I try to do 1 hour at least 4 x week.
Find something you enjoy.  And find a partner to keep you accountable.   I recently started water aerobics.  I didn't think I would like it.  But I LOVE it!
My husband and I bike ride,  go on hikes, and  go for walks together.
Think about everything you put in your mouth.  Ask yourself is this going to help me accomplish my goal?
Educate yourself on healthy diets.
avoid fast food,  sugar,  white things (white flower, white rice, white pasta)
eat as natural as you can.
If you mess up, don't throw in the towel.  Pick yourself up, and start over.  It's an everyday battle.  Don't give in....keep on fighting!

THANKSGIVING WEEK

Gratitude paves the way to abundance: If you want more good things in life take some time to be grateful to God for blessings you have received, from the little things taken for granted, to the big things you are yet unaware of. What you focus on tends to grow - focus on your blessings and watch them expand.

Giving thanks always for al...l things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Eph 5:20

THANKSGIVING

It is that time again.  THANKSGIVING!  Let us be thankful for the things we have.  Not focussing on what we don't have.  Let us learn to be content nomatter what circumstance we find ourselves in.
Philippians 4:10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Philippians 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Happy Thanksgiving.....have a GREAT week!

**Great leaders have the courage to take "steps of faith" that no one will understand – but God!**

God doesn't always give us a blueprint for our lives but he always gives us a next step
.T.D. Jakes Ministries/The Potter's House

When praises go up, blessings come down. “Thy kingdom come” releases the downpour of the power of God. Praise will cause the very power of God to come down in your life. But what good is power without purpose? Thus Jesus taught the disciples, “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” That is a step up from power to purpose. Now the purpose of God comes down to your life. You can’t have success without purpose!

My all time favorite scripture....Proverbs 3:5 " Trust in the Lord with all your heart, don't lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will direct your path."
There have been times in this journey called life that I have gone through things that I didn't see any way out.  I was gripped with fear.  The only peace I had was to meditate on that scripture.  When the paralysing fear would hit me, I would fall to my knees, cry out to God and meditate on that scripture.
If you could only memorize one scripture, I recommend you memorize Proverbs 3:5.
Without faith it is imposible to please God.  He is pleased when we put our faith in His word.  If He spoke it, it's true.  You can have peace knowing  if you Trust in the Lord with all of your heart (don't worry.  Give it to God.) don't lean on your own understanding (his ways are above our ways, and His thoughts above our thoughts) in all your ways acknowledge him (obey what His word says to do...seek him, pray, read the word, and obey) He will direct your path. (He knows what is the best path for you).  All things work together for GOOD for those who love the Lord.  (those who are seeking him, and trusting him).  ALL THINGS.  Even though they may seem bad.  You may see no way out.  He will make a way, IF you put your trust in Him.
I am laying in bed with my 2 month old, grandbaby Anabelle on a Saturday morning thinking....how very blessed I am!  God is so good!  He is faithful!  He promised to give us double for our trouble.  Twice as much as the devil has stolen.  As long as we stay faithful to him.
We go through things in life that we don't think are fair.  Often we ask God, "Why me?"  But if we stay focused on him, and his promises He will see us through.  And Joy will come in the morning.  Whatever it is you are going through today, he will bring you through it.  If it's a husband who seems to be uncaring, or selfish.  If it is someone who is mistreating you, and judging you unfairly.  If it is a teenager that is doing things they shouldn't be doing.  If it's loneliness, depression, or an illness.  Whatever it is that has you down today, let me encourage you to read the word of God.  Every promise is for YOU.  Pray and trust in him.  He promised he would never leave you nor forsake you.  He is concerned with every area of your life.  If it concerns you, it concerns Him.  Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, don't lean on you own understanding,  in all of your ways acknowledge him and He will direct your path.  Cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you.

Take a one-day break from a bad habit.

Hide

How to do it

What's one of your bad habits? Biting your nails? Surfing the Web at work? Driving too fast? Or is it smoking, one of the most dangerous and destructive bad habits anyone could have? Whatever your bad habit is, take a one-day break from it. Let your family and friends know you're doing this through Facebook, by tweeting about it, e-mailing or speaking with them directly. You may find that you're able to take another one-day break tomorrow, the next day, and the day after that.

Why it matters

Everyone has good and bad habits. The important thing is knowing how to control the bad ones. Unfortunately, there are no magic wands. Getting rid of a bad habit like smoking takes work and, often, support from others. But big changes begin with small steps. Giving up a bad habit for one day can be the beginning of consciously gaining control over one aspect of your life and making a commitment to change. Announce your commitment to change to your family, friends, and colleagues, and you'll be surprised just how many people you know who will support you.

Fun Fact

Mark Twain, the American author and humorist, said of bad habits: "Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time."
When Peter placed his foot on the water, it was not easy. Yet, in spite of it all, he stayed focused on the Lord. We all know that the moment Peter began to focus more on the elements that surrounded him, rather than the God in front of him, he began to sink. Don’t be distracted by the elements nor let the naysayers divert your attention — stay focused on the task at hand and watch as God prevails!

Let God Settle It

.by Joel Osteen Ministries on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 8:56am.Joel's Blog

Every person on earth has experienced difficulty. We've all had times when we've been hurt, wronged or taken advantage of. But God is a just God. Hebrews 10:30 tells us that He will repay us the exact compensation owed to us. He is the one to settle and solve the cases of His people.

Do you need a case settled today? Maybe you've had unfair things happen. Maybe somebody stole your childhood or left you with a bunch of children to raise by yourself. Perhaps a business partner cheated you, and you lost a lot of money. You could easily be angry and bitter, trying to pay them back. But instead, be encouraged because God is a just God. He knows every person who has hurt you. He has seen every person who has violated you or left you alone and afraid. Nobody else may have seen it, but God saw it; and He knew it wasn't right. Today, He is saying, "I'm going to settle your cases. I'm going to make your wrongs right."

God promised in Isaiah that He would pay you back double for every unfair thing that has happened. That means every person who has lied about you or tried to make you look bad, let it go because double is coming. Forgive the people who violated you because double is on its way.

Friend, God never brings you out the same; He always brings you out better. He will make the enemy pay for bringing that injustice into your life. Do your part and let it go. When you choose to forgive, you are handing everything over to God. When you forgive, you open the door for His forgiveness and redemption in your own live. Today, choose forgiveness and let God be your vindicator. Let Him settle your cases because He promises to repay you double in this life!
***Sometimes you have to move away to get closer...And sometimes you have to let go, to stake your claim. Be still, to move forward. Give to receive. Cry, to feel the joy. Pretend to make it real. Fake it, before you make it. And sometimes oddly enough, you must decide to feel their love to find it was there all along.

His Strength is perfect -

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

No matter what you are facing you're not facing it alone. You're not without hope or resources. You're not without answers because God's grace is sufficient and His grace and His strength in your time of weakness all you need to move forward in victory.

Sometimes, just getting away from the things that brought you heartache, for as long as you can, gives the Lord time to impart into you greater vision, bigger goals, better circumstances and more wonderful people than you ever dreamed possible.

Soul-Blinders"

Gwen Smith

Today's Truth

"So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left" (Deuteronomy 5:32, NIV).

Friend to Friend

When I was a young girl, I rode horses with my cousin, Beth. When she was prepping her horse for shows, Beth would often add blinders to the bridle of her horse. Horse trainers believe these blinders, also called blinkers or winkers, keep the horse focused on what is in front of him, and encourage him to pay attention to the race rather than other distractions, such as crowds. Now, I'm not a horse, but at times my heart sure does wander and get distracted from what really matters. It makes me think that I could really benefit from some "soul-blinders."

You see, I have this distraction problem. At times I look around at what others are doing, being, and accomplishing and feel ineffective, unproductive, and unnecessary. There. I said it. It's not pretty, but it's true.

When do I have this problem? When I look around instead of looking to God. (How bizarre! I even know the answer to my problem ... and I still struggle with it!) Do you ever do that? Do you compare yourself to others and, as a result, determine that there are great deficiencies in your life? Do you ever feel like you don't measure up to those around you? Join the club. I bet we all struggle with this at times.

The good news is that God doesn't leave us without direction or help. He gave us His Word, the Bible, to direct our thoughts, behaviors, hearts, minds and souls - to be our soul-blinders! Scripture reminds us of this in Deuteronomy 5:32-33: "So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess."

Ahhh ... and the light bulbs turn on! When we look to the LORD - to His plan for us - to the one that is unique to each of us, we will prosper. And when we look to the right and to the left, we lose our focus, we worry about comparison, and we become distracted. So, like Paul, let's press on. Forward. With a gaze committed to the path ahead - not to the path that is behind us or on either side. Sisters, like the apostle Paul says, "...I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I d Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:13-14).

Today, I pray that you will join me in asking God to give us soul-blinders. Because when we turn our eyes upon Jesus and look full in His wonderful face, the things of earth ... the distractions, the comparisons, and stuff that causes us to lose our focus ... will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

Let's Pray

Dear God, Thanks for giving us the Bible to direct us in life. I ask that You would put blinders on my heart so that I will be solely focused on living for You. I pray as the psalmist does: "I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws." (Psalm 119:104-106) Please help me to follow Your ways.

In Jesus' Name I pray,

Amen.

Now it's Your Turn

Take time to evaluate what people or things might be distracting you from God's best. Spend some time in prayer about it.

How much time have you been spending in God's Word each day? Each week? Each month? Consider adding ten minutes to your current commitment for one week. Ask God to give you a greater clarity of His plans and direction for your life
Tips on Getting More Fruits and Vegetables Into Your Life

by Bob Curley on September 17, 2010

Few Americans eat as much fruit and vegetables as they need for a healthy diet, but eMaxHealth writer Tyler Woods, Ph.D., offers some helpful strategies for getting your greens and more:

■Bring apples, pears, bananas, grapes, oranges and cherry tomatoes to work: they don’t require refrigeration

■Keep your fruits and vegetables on the countertop or table where you’ll see them and remember to grab them when you need a snack

■Fill your cookie jar with dried fruits for a quick, sweet snack

■Drink 100% juice or vegetable juice

■Use applesauce as a dip for other vegetables or a substitute for butter or oil when cooking

■Eat frozen vegetables for quick and easy servings

■Pre-cut fruits and vegetables for another quick snack. Add the fruit to cereal, the veggies to pasta dishes

■Use a food processor to finely chop vegetables for soups and sauces

■Add fruit to your main meal, such as salad toppings or to accompany meat dishes

■Top pizza or omelets with fresh vegetables

When you can’t seem to put one foot in front of the other, stand. When days come that challenge your destiny, just stand. Realize that there has never been a day that lasted forever. You can’t afford to crumple onto your knees like a weak, whimpering lily blown over by a windstorm. Bite your lip, taste your tears, but stand on what God showed you in the night until it happens in the light.

To Cut Depression, Exercise in Your Free Time

by Bob Curley on November 2, 2010

It doesn’t hurt to get a little exercise during the work day, but if you want to stave off depression then you need to work out during your leisure hours, a new study suggests.

The BBC reported Oct. 31 that researchers from King’s College London, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the University of Bergen in Norway studied depression and exercise patterns in more than 40,000 Norwegians.

“Our study shows that people who engage in regular leisure-time activity of any intensity are less likely to have symptoms of depression,” said lead researcher Samuel Harvey of the King’s College Institute of Psychiatry.

“We also found that the context in which activity takes place is vital and that the social benefits associated with exercise, like increased numbers of friends and social support, are more important in understanding how exercise may be linked to improved mental health than any biological markers of fitness,” added Harvey. “This may explain why leisure activity appears to have benefits not seen with physical activity undertaken as part of a working day.”

The findings were published in the November 2010 issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry.

HFood: Walnuts

By: Silvie CelizSection: HFood11.03.10Topics: Antioxidants, Brain Food, Heart Health, Minerals, Omega 3, Walnuts

The language of the Universe is symbols. Nature’s design is so perfect that the shape and form of produce from the Plant Kingdom acts like a big sign and indicates what a particular item is good for. In this case, it is obvious that since the walnut looks like a human brain, its purpose is to support this organ. Let’s get to know this amazing nut a bit deeper.

History: Called ‘Junglans Regia’ by the Romans, walnuts date back to 7000 B.C. English Walnuts were brought into the United States from ancient Persia in the early 1800s by Franciscan monks, who settled along the California coast. But way before that, there was mention of walnut trees growing in ancient Babylon at around 2000 B.C. The Greeks, and Romans also cultivated Persian walnut trees, which are what today we call English Walnuts. Once already in California, the English walnuts were distributed under the name ‘Mission Walnuts’ because the first trees planted were those grown in Catholic missions. Nowadays, central California produces 99% of the total U.S. Commercial walnut supplies of English walnuts.

Description: Walnuts come inside a hard and round-looking shell. Once opened, they look like a caramel-colored human brain. There is a thin layer of light brownish skin, and the flesh is white (yellow flesh is a sign of rancidity). Organic walnuts have darker brown shells. You can purchase walnuts in their shells or out of their shells, as halves. Although the English walnut is the most popular type in the United States, there are other varieties, such as the Black walnut (Junglas nigra), and the White or ‘butternut’ walnut, (Junglas cinerea). Black walnuts have a stronger flavor and thicker shells, while white walnuts are sweeter and oilier.

Nutritional info: Walnuts are an amazing brain food. They contain the highest amount of omega-3 fats compared to any other nut. This is important for us because the membranes of all of our cells, including our brain cells or neurons, are primarily composed of fats. Anything that wants to get into or out of a cell must pass through the cell’s outer membrane. Omega-3 fats make this process much more smooth and easy, helping the cell to bring in nutrients while getting rid of wastes. Besides being the best electrical conduct for optimal neuron-to-neuron communication, omega-3 essential fatty acids help lower triglycerides, reduce plaque formation, and lower state of depression by boosting our mood level. This alpha linolenic acid also promotes bone health by helping prevent excessive bone loss. Here are other benefits of this star nut:

✻ Walnuts for weight management: Eating about 4 to 6 walnuts before meals decreases levels of hunger while providing essential nourishment, say experts at Loma Linda University.

✻ Walnuts are loaded with minerals including calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, and potassium. Manganese alone is essential for growth, reproduction, and the proper metabolism of sugars, insulin, and cholesterol.

✻ They help in lowering the risk of cancer and prevent/reduce cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s.

✻ Support a good nights sleep through melatonin content in bio-available form. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland, in charge or inducing or regulating sleep. A published study by the University of Texas has shown between 2.5 to 4.5 ng/gram amounts of melatonin present in walnuts (in bio-available form) while also demonstrating that eating walnuts triples blood levels of melatonin and increases antioxidant activity.

✻ The Nurses’ Health Study shows that women who eat at least one ounce of nuts per week have a 25% lower risk of developing gallstones.

✻ Walnuts reduce risk of coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis and lower LDL cholesterol levels while increasing HDL cholesterol. This is all due to walnuts’ high ALA (omega-3 fat) content.

✻ They help prevent and control high blood pressure, improve cardiovascular and artery function and all around heart health.

✻ More walnut benefits include better cognitive function, anti-inflammatory effect, immunity support and anti-cancer properties. They also contain around 16 antioxidant phenols, vitamin E, both ellagic and gallic acid, protein (especially tryptophan) and fiber.

✻ One ounce of walnuts (one quarter cup or 12-14 walnuts) provides 4 grams of protein, 2 grams of fiber, and 2.5 omega-3 fatty acids.

Application: You can go very simple or get creative when it comes to walnuts. They are a great add to just about any dish Рor just as a snack all by themselves. Chop them up real fine, and they are the perfect garnish for a salad. Add them to a smoothie, vegan muffins, and rawnolas for breakfast. Make a delicious and nutty milk as well as a raw pie crust. Add them to vegan-raw pesto, raw snacks, vegetable saut̩s, and favorite noodle dishes. Make vegan stuffing for holidays or make a beautiful walnut pat̩

Pledge to get more Zzzz's (7 to 9 hours of sleep) tonight.

Hide

How to do it

Today, make a pledge to get more Zzzz's. Tonight, turn the TV and computer off and go to bed early enough so you can get a solid seven to nine hours of sleep. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark, your pillows are comfortable, and the room temperature neither too warm nor too cool for sleeping. When you wake up tomorrow, you might not even have to hit the snooze button.

Why it matters

How much sleep we get impacts our overall well-being. Our bodies use sleep to process and store memories, repair cells, and release hormones (the body's natural chemical messengers) that regulate appetite and up bone density. There is evidence that chronic sleep deprivation may lead to significant health problems, like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Sleep needs are individual: You may feel rested and function well on just seven hours of sleep a night, while another person your age and gender has to get nine hours a night to feel her or his best. However, most experts agree that adults, even as they get older, need at least seven to nine hours of continuous, uninterrupted sleep each night to function properly.

Fun Fact

A new baby brings joy, but typically causes his or her parents to lose between 400 to 750 hours of sleep in the first year alone.
May we never let the things we can't have, or don't have, or shouldn't have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have.”

Richard L. Evans quote

Supernatural Fitness Today is a brand new day – and it doesn’t matter what “shape” you are in right now, God’s power can make it better! Way better . . . better than you ever dreamed . . . but you’ve got to believe!

Go forth in faith today -- God's on the throne and He's got a plan!

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. 4 Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols. 5 O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them. Psalm 40: 1-5 (New Living Translation)

Right now is one of the most painful times in my life. An excruciating tear-filled mass of confusion and uncertainty. Over this time I have experienced more stress than I thought possible. And it is in seasons like this that my faith, all that I believe, comes sharply into focus. Believing in Jesus Christ doesn’t mean I don’t struggle or that somehow my life is always perfect. Being a Christian means that I know I am not alone.

Though at times I may feel stranded on a rock with the roaring seas smacking at my feet, eager to throw me into the perilous depths, actually the reality is quite different, God is that rock and I am safe and secure.

As Psalm 40 states God does indeed act. Sometimes it takes a little time and I need to wait patiently, but all the same He acts. And patience takes trust, to believe that God will act despite the circumstances.

So how do I do this? How do I trust? How am I patient amidst the excruciating pain when all I want is things to be sorted right now?

P.U.S.H = Prayer, Using the Word of God, Sing and Holy Spirt

The first thing is Prayer: lots and lots and lots of prayer. Then pray some more. But not just my prayer, inviting others to pray for me. This is key.

The second is Using the Word of God, it is so easy right now to forget to read and dig deep into the Bible. But right now I need it more than usual.

The third is to Sing the praises of God, of how God is working in my life. So yes, I feel down so the challenge is to praise God all the same.

And finally I recognise the place of the Holy Spirit in that I claim the reality that I am not alone, that God has equipped me with the Holy Spirit, to guide, to encourage and support me each moment of the day.

Praise God for this awesome reading!!

God bless!

Treasures of Darkness

Mary Southerland

Today's Truth

Isaiah 45:3 "I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name."

Friend to Friend

I love a great movie. To me, a movie is only great - no matter what any movie critic says or how many stars the film is granted - when good wins over evil, the right guy gets the right girl, nobody gets hurt and everyone lives happily ever after. A bit naive, I know, but I have decided that there is enough harsh reality traipsing through my daily life without paying to see more on a movie screen. When I sit down in that cushy theatre seat, popcorn and soda in hand, I want happy endings.

With these criteria in mind, I went to see the movie, "Sea Biscuit." God has a way of wrapping remarkable truths in unremarkable circumstances. There I was; munching and sipping away, minding my own business and enjoying my brief respite from the real world, when his words echoed through the movie theatre and slammed into my soul.

"You don't throw a whole life away just because it's a little banged up," he said. I was done. I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the movie but those simple words were written just for me and lingered long after the movie's credits scrolled across the movie screen. We are all "banged up a little" by life. I know what it feels like to be broken and in pain. And I do not like it - a fact that seems meaningless when it comes to facing and dealing with tough experiences in my life. The hits just keep coming. I have a choice to make. I can embrace the pain and brokenness in my life and learn from it or I can surrender to the darkness and hide - and hope it all goes away. Trust me, girlfriend. It doesn't.

In "A Farewell to Arms," Ernest Hemingway writes, "The world breaks everyone and many are strong at the broken places." Jesus says it this way, "I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name" (Isaiah 45:3).

Wow! The truth of this verse rocks my world. Don't miss it! God has gone before us and buried a treasure in every problem and stored rich truths in every minute of darkness we will face. The only way we can discover that treasure is to embrace the problem as an opportunity to trust God and uncover a new seed of victory. Some things cannot be learned in the light - they are treasures of the darkness.

Let's Pray

Father, my heart is broken and it seems very dark. I don't understand what You are doing in my life. The darkness is very real and filled with more questions than answers. And I don't like it! But I love You, Lord, so I choose trust instead of fear and faith instead of doubt. Lord, please fill each broken place in my heart with Your mercy and Your grace. Today, I choose You.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
Our Heavenly Father breathes in our worship and exhales His Glory!

Faith and Well-Being Linked in New Poll

by Bob Curley on November 1, 2010

The most religious Americans also have the highest self-reported well-being scores, according to the latest data from the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.

Very religious people scored 68.7 on the 0-100 Index, compared to 64.2 for those who identified themselves as moderately religious, and 64.2 for nonreligious Americans. “Very religious” was defined as people for whom religion “is an important part of daily life and church/synagogue/mosque attendance occurs at least every week or almost every week.”

Nearly 44 percent of Americans identified themselves as “very religious,” Gallup found.

The survey controlled for factors like income, region, marital status, age, ethnicity, and gender. Researchers found that the link between religion and well-being was pretty consistent across the country.

No cause-and-effect relationship was established, and Gallup noted that people with high levels of well-being could choose to be more religious.

On the other hand, “It is also possible that the relationship is straightforward, that something about religiosity, defined as a personal importance placed on religion and frequent religious service attendance, in turn leads to a higher level of personal wellbeing.”

“Religious service attendance promotes social interaction and friendship with others, and Gallup analysis has clearly shown that time spent socially and social networks themselves are positively associated with wellbeing,” according to Gallup. “Religion generally involves more meditative states and faith in a higher power, both of which have been widely used as methods to lower stress, reduce depression, and promote happiness. Religion provides mechanisms for coping with setbacks and life’s problems, which in turn may reduce stress, worry, and anger. Many religions, including Christianity, which is by far the dominant religion in the U.S., embody tenets of positive relationships with one’s neighbors and charitable acts, which may lead to a more positive mental outlook.”
One Thought at a Time

.by Joel Osteen Ministries on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 7:28am. “...take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”(2 Corinthians 10:5, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Transforming something in your life whether it’s your attitude, mindset, financial situation or bringing change into a relationship can seem like an overwhelming task. But as the old saying goes, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Likewise, the way you change your life is one thought at a time.

Your thoughts set the direction of your life. If you need to change the direction you are headed, you simply need to change your thoughts in that area. When a thought comes to your mind that “you’re never going to get well; this is your lot in life,” don’t dwell on that. Don’t sit around and have a pity party. No, immediately reject it and replace it with God’s Word. Just say, “Father, You said in Isaiah, ‘By the stripes of Jesus I am healed.’ You said in Jeremiah, ‘You would restore health unto me.’ So Father, I thank You that I’m coming out of this in the name of Jesus.”

I encourage you to be aggressive in taking every single thought and making it obedient to Christ. Stay determined, stay focused and keep declaring His Word because you can change your life, one thought at a time!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank You for empowering me today to become better, stronger, more alive and blessed. I receive Your Word as truth and choose to change my life one thought at a time. Thank You for leading me and guiding me by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

November is American Diabetes Month, an observance created to generate awareness about a disease shared by nearly 24 million children and adults in the Unites States. That is not counting the 57 million Americans that have pre-diabetes and are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and the other 5.7 million who don’t know they have it. The American Heart Association estimates that 59.7 million Americans 20 years and older have pre-diabetes, a condition that more than doubles the risk of death due to heart attack. The worse part is that the death rates due to diabetes continue to increase since 1987. Here is the good news: Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes can be reversed with NO DRUGS by getting informed and adopting a plant-based diet.

Heart disease and stroke are the number one causes of death and disability among people with type 2 diabetes. In fact, at least 65% of people with diabetes die from some form of heart disease or stroke. It’s astonishing that the national cost of diagnosed diabetes in the United States is $174 billion, with direct medical costs reaching around $116 billion, and that the total diabetes-related cost could exceed $218 billion (just in the U.S.), while all these can be prevented by your food choices. The most common form of diabetes is type 2, and practitioners like Dr. Gabriel Cousens have confirmed that it can be reversed and prevented simply by eating an unprocessed, vegan, whole foods, plant-based diet with a high emphasis on live (raw) foods. That simple. Diabetes can easily be reversed and your body healed if you change your lifestyle.

So, what is diabetes exactly? Diabetes is a metabolic disorder by which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that allows the body to use glucose for energy. The body produces glucose from the food you eat. Diabetes can also be described as an ongoing inflammation, which can affect all organs. Research from scientists at the University of California, San Diego, and Switzerland’s University of Fribourg discovered that inflammation provoked by immune cells called macrophages leads to insulin resistance and then to type 2 diabetes. We might want to watch foods that contain gluten (especially the very popular vegan protein seitan, which is pure gluten) because it is pro-inflammatory. In the long term, the development of diabetes can damage your eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart.

What is the main cause of diabetes? SUGAR. Refined sugar, specifically, white flour, white sugar, and corn syrup, which is included in most of America’s favorite fast meals: processed foods. Check ingredient labels people! You’ll find that many of them will have corn syrup (so, basically, you’re eating the same calorie source over and over again), among other less-than-desirable and hardly-identifiable items for proper weight management, nutrition, and health. The best foods for you are the ones that don’t have ingredient labels – hands down. Here are some examples we hope are already familiar to you: broccoli, spinach, and blueberries. No labels – just food. Other causes of diabetes include cooked meat (meat eaters have four times more diabetes), animal fat, insulin resistance, and (believe it or not) watching television (more than 19 hours per week increases diabetes risk 150%.) According to the American Pediatric Association, babies who are given cow’s milk before the age of three months have an increased risk of getting type 1 diabetes by 11% to 13%. Vaccines given to children are also associated with type 1 diabetes. Studies in New Zealand and Finland also show 147% increase in type 1 diabetes, resulting from children that have been vaccinated. Toxins are also associated with diabetes (pesticides, herbicides, mercury), so buy ORGANIC.

Studies have shown that choosing a healthy lifestyle that includes a nutritionally dense diet and frequent physical activity has dramatically reduced and reversed the progression of type 2 diabetes and is key to controlling type 1 diabetes (a more autoimmune-related form of the disease). Any way you put it, the key to an optimally healthy physical body is eating mostly a live food, plant-based diet. For general health prevention, start by eating an 80% raw foods and 30% cooked foods diet, with all components from the Plant Kingdom, preferably organic, and definitely unprocessed.
